Cost and Depreciation Boats are expensive... Not just to buy but to own! A rule of thumb says that you should budget 10% of your boat's value into annual fees and maintenance... And then add on your depreciation... Sounds expensive...

Our
Story
Salcombe Powerboat Charter was founded in 2025 by its Skippers, Ollie and Freddy. Their story began decades ago with their love and passion for being out on South Devon's coastline. Naturally, Ollie and Freddy met, sharing their enthusiasm for working in Salcombe. After agreeing to work together for Whitestrand Boat Hire, they lived in a tent on a nearby campsite to afford to live in Salcombe.

As time went by, Ollie and Freddy earned maritime qualifications, starting with their Salcombe Harbour Boatmen's Licence and finishing with their Commercially Endorsed Advanced Powerboat Qualification, licensing them to carry up to 12 passengers, 20 miles away from a Safe Haven, both day and night.

Ollie and Freddy currently run an RYA Training Centre whilst working alongside many local boat businesses. With their new venture, they offer bespoke charter packages with the mission of providing everybody an opportunity to enjoy boating with none of the hassle or expenses that owning a boat can bring.
